WarnD's Displacement Tutorial.Displacing is a very cool tool to use on brushes.Especially if when you do it with the colorful brushes.
Today I will show you how to do that.Just a real simple tutorial.
First, open up Gimp and select new
Below is the width and height I used. You can use any size.
Now just create a cool background.I made mine textured because I just think it looks cool.
Then, choose the render and put it any where.I choose Slash:
Now this step is very important:Make a new layer.
Now make sure you have selected that layer. Now,choose a brush style.
I chose the orange and yellow one.It looks cool.
Now whatever brush you chose, brush it in different places.Don't do it on the render. It looks crappy that way.Do it like this:
Now go to Filters>Map>Displace and follow the image below.
Make sure you still have the new layer still selected(the one with the brush)
Now press ok.
Make a new layer again and kind of max out that brush you chose.Like this:
Now do the displace thing again Filters>Map>Displace and raise it slightly more.
Keep repeating displace until you like it.
Now,you can keep the color like that OR...
Layers>color>desaturate
Then, almost like in frodo's fire text tutorial...
Go to Layer>colors>color balance.
Just play around with the coloring. Here is how mine turned out:
Now,instead of exactly copying mine, make it your own!Add some light, effects, whatever!
Here is my final product:
